Pronunciation: लांक (Hariyanvi), लांक (Hindi), Laank (English)
Motive: To depict empirical saga of cultural-democratic-historical-artistic laurel and heritage of Haryanvi villages/estates.


Location:


LAANK village is situated at 10km distance from SHAMLI on PANIPAT-MEERUT road. Village falls under SHAMLI DISTRICT of UTTAR PREDESH State(INDIA). Village is 28 kms from Panipat (Haryana) and 40 kms from Meerut (Uttar Pradesh).

Social Institutions:

Culture:


Dresses: Old people wear dhoti-kudta, people between 30 to 50 years of age wear kudta-pajama and youngsters wear jeans-shirt. Jatnies wear sharee KUDTA in younger age, old wears kudta-daaman-lahnga.

Langue Spoken: People speak a mixture of HINDI and HARYANVI Language.

Recipies: Doodh, Dahi, Goord, Sarso k Shaag, Makka ki Roti and ALL of the NATURAL DESHI DISHES.

Spiritual Beliefs: Similar to any other villages in Khapland or primarily in WESTERN UTTAR PREDESH & HARYANA, village has 11 temples, ONE HISTRICAL PLACE IN THIS VILLAGE IS “RUPCHAND BABA TEMPLE” and thou fellowships, second "Shivalya" similar to most of villages in Western UTTAR PREDESH & Haryana found followers of "Lord Shiv", "Lord Hanumana". Village has one Saint Ravidas temple too.

Employment: 70% of total employment for villagers comes from defence services (army, navy and air force). Other major number is of Teachers, Policemen, Bank Employee and other local civil services. Rest of people do farming. New trend and attraction toward corporate and technical fields is also seen in youngsters.

Agriculture: Main crops of sown on different season pattern SUGAR CANE, WHEAT & RICE etc.

Infrastructure: 2 CHOPAL, 7 govt. Schools, 1 WATER TANK (CAPACITY 4000) and many hand-pumps.

Famous Landscapes: BABA RUPCHAN TEMPLE, CH CHARAN SINGH HIGH SCHOOL (JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL), NO.1 SCHOOL, NAHAR WALA GROUND (PLAY GROUND), SWAMI RAGUBEER DAYAL TRUST SCHOOL.

Notable Personalities of Laank

1.-2. Ch. Maharaj Singh Malik and Ch. Inderpal Singh Malik: Both got the village a girl school, one temple, Bus service (from main gate (kaanta) to people doorstep), make one part of two of lastly divided village by making the connecting road, Water project with help of local M.P. Ch. Harender Singh Malik (this project got hold in 1992 but later on completed in 2005). Shetler on bus stand is in pipeline.

3. Pradhan Sudhir Malik (Billu) got the water tank project completed. Got the grant for cleansing of village' enormously large water pond in local area, got the village cemented roads.
